PUC-Rio’s Digital Humanities Laboratory announces the publication of the White Paper: “As Humanidades Digitais no Brasil: Inovações e Oportunidades” (in English, “Digital Humanities in Brazil: Innovations and Opportunities”). Based on a survey carried out by the DHLab team, the document sheds light on the possibilities and potential for innovation in the field of Digital Humanities in Brazil, identifying fields for future training in the area.
The aim is to understand the current scenario of Digital Humanities in the country, based on the identification of studies published in the area, and the main innovations and methods used in it.
The survey and discussion presented in the White Paper shed light on the role of Digital Humanities in this process and the area’s potential to foster technological and social innovations that are sensitive to the opportunities and challenges presented by digital technologies.
In addition to the potential for developing new methodologies, techniques and research tools, the main contribution of Digital Humanities lies in its ability to formulate critical questions for contemporary society and create a space for critical reflection within the process of technological development and innovation.
The study was supported by the Rio de Janeiro State Research Foundation (FAPERJ, from the acronym in Portuguese).
We invite you to download the White Paper (available in Portuguese) here.
